The Rt. Rev. David Michael Loomis, affectionately known as Doc,
has served as Canon Missioner for the Anglican Mission since September 2007 and
was consecrated a missionary bishop in September 2009. Doc is involved with
planting new churches, raising up leaders and opening new territory for the
Kingdom in the US and Canada, and he also teaches church planting at Gordon
Conwell Seminary in Massachusetts. A significant number of new churches and
missions have been planted under Doc's leadership during the last four years,
and three Networks have been launched from one Northeast Ohio Congregation. Now,
with the partnership of the Midwest Network, there are four Networks in one
region. The region, called The Heart of North America, includes The Lighthouse,
River of Life, CrossRoads (replacing HONA as a Network moniker) and the Midwest.
Doc also helps provide oversight for churches in Ontario and Quebec. Doc was
trained and licensed in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he
served as pastor from 1981 - 1997. From 1997 until 2003, he worked with two
church plants in Ohio as an independent Christian church planter. Doc holds
Masters and Doctoral degrees in ministry. He is married to Ellen, who ministers
mightily as a worship leader, and the couple resides in Medina, Ohio. The
Loomis' have four grown Christian children, ages 19 to 33, and four
grandchildren.
